LANE'S LATEST - FEDOR'S FUTURE FIGHTS IN STRIKEFORCE

Yet another solid video by TT's own Bloodstain Lane. In this video, Lane and his brother Chris discuss potential future opponents for MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko, who lost his first ever fight earlier this year. In my opinion, these are the best fights for Fedor in Strikeforce/DREAM. in order.

ALISTAIR OVEREEM - The Strikeforce heavyweight champion is one of the few people in this world who are actually better at Fedor at a given discipline - Overeem is a world class kickboxer with almost superhuman strength. I think this fight will look a lot like Fedor versus Cro Cop - I'm expecting a close fight that will stay standing for most of the duration, but Fedor's aggressive mentality will eventually overwhelm Overeem and Fedor will either finish him late or win a close decision.

JOSH BARNETT - After Affliction: Trilogy, Barnett doesn't exactly have a big amount of fans left. In my opinion though, Barnett is still an amazing fighter and this fight would be pure fireworks. It'll be a close fight, but Fedor's overall game will most likely be too much to handle for Barnett.

FABRICIO WERDUM - In my opinion, an instant rematch is a terrible idea. Werdum won without any controversy whatsoever and deserves a shot at the title now. If both Fedor and Werdum manage to string a few wins together however, I'd love to see them fight again. In fact, I think this has potential to be the most interesting fight on the list. The last time Fedor "lost" - via cut, to Tsuyoshi Kohsaka - he took revenge by completely destroying TK's face in the rematch. The question is: will Fedor be as aggressive as he was last time, knowing he can be submitted at any given moment in the fight?

BIGFOOT SILVA - Silva is in my opinion one of the most underrated in the heavyweight division. He almost took out Werdum in the first round of their fight and in the eyes of some should even have won the decision. Despite this, I don't think he poses a real threat to Fedor. His overall game not good enough to beat someone like Fedor and I don't see Bigfoot finishing him either.

OTHERS
Shane del Rosario is a very skilled heavyweight who is constantly improving and could pose a serious threat to Fedor in the future. Sergei Kharitonov is a fast but powerful sambo fighter who can pose a similar threat to Fedor as Andrei Arlovski did. Satoshi Ishii is a Judo Olympics gold medalist turned MMA fighter who is training with American Top Team and Xtreme Couture to improve his overall game - he is the most promising Japanese prospect in years. Daniel Cormier is an excellent wrestler who is quickly improving as a MMA fighter. King Mo, who is a similar fighter, has also shown interest in a fight with Fedor - he lost his most recent fight though. Gegard Mousasi is one of the most well-rounded fighters in the world and has fought at heavyweight in the past, but he might not be willing to fight Fedor because of their friendship.

In the end, it doesn't matter who Fedor fights - as long as he does, I'm happy.

  1. Who are we kidding, mate? It doesn't even have to be a fight. I'd be just as entertained seeing Fedor bash in a paraplegic, or an entire Alzheimer ward at a hospital.
